This town had dragged you down
Last night Beloved came home completely shocked. She told me that a guy in her capstone course at school [which is on Jewish Literature - biographies and autobiographies] had told the class that he agreed with Hitler. he had a "hard time seeing the Jews as real people" How can there still be people like this in the world? It amazes me. To top it off [and you *know* she had to keep quiet] the professor is a Jew! How sick can a person be. Beloved said the whole class ws so shocked they couldn't say anything. I am amazed. The sad thing is, though, that there are poeple like this in my town. Everywhere. It makes me sad.

Sadly, there are many who think that way...especially in your neck of the woods. They are frightening people who have allowed hate to so color their world that they are almost delusional in their beliefs.
That is incredibly disturbing to hear, Alecya.
I always wonder...you know, post-Holocaust, the message was, "Never again, Never again" - but yet that hatred/ignorance still exists and people have been and are still being slaughtered in mass numbers.
I can't believe he had the gall to say that.
I'm still old enough to remember (78) when this attitude was more mainstream, not fringe like it is now. Continue to blog, talk and educate, and the number of these people will continue to shrink. Unfortunately, they will never totall dissapear
I've been innundated with Anons lately! Wow. Is it the same person? You both share that delightful optimism I wish I had....
Hello, lurker friend! thanks for stopping by.
It is sad, isnt it?
And hello, Leah. Good to see you about.
I'm the type of person who would have fought back immediately. This sort of thing so enrages me that, even though I know I'm not going to change this person's mind, I can't stop myself from calling him an idiot. Well, I'd probably use stronger language, but you get the idea. I've heard this sort of crap enough times that it sadly doesn't stun me anymore. It just drives me immediately and completely insane.
Short trip for me some days. *G*
Homophobia, anti-Semitism... your neighbours seem to have the whole set.
I am truly astonished at this latest revelation (for about the 10th time, I know...)
We get a great set around here. And just think, this was in a university class! A capstone course, which means this dopehas made it through at least 3-4 years of liberal brainwashing at a state university before he got to this class.
Oh, Foxy, you should see my hometown. Its the capital of the Assemblies of God, and there was a survey when I was in high school. We apparently have more churches per capita than any other city in the US. I know of 5 in a 3 mile radius of my house...its got to be true, its liket his all over town.
I'll be dure to keep you informed, then, of all the sadness around here. It reminds me how backwards people are, how much farther we have to go.
why would an anti-semite sign up for this course? I'm baffled.
Mind you, it's not just in continuing anti-semitism that I see the same traits that made us capable of the holocaust, it's in all sorts of things. We say "never again", but I see stuff every day that makes me wonder. Just watch the news. Humans haven't learnt a damn thing.
Hate is a terrible thing.
Alecya if you give me an email or hotmail address I will send you that mini video. It is a must see
It's everywhere. Nigeria slaughtered each other over whether or not they were Christian or Muslim, and we're talking in the last 10-15 years.
I've heard people say to me that the Holocaust was just an Allied Propaganda campaign, and they meant it. One guy I decked for saying it.
